    Great point.

You just need to know how to talk to the officer. Just don't try to bulls*it them (they're quick to pick up on that) and waste their time. Be honest and upfront, and if you made a mistake, man up and take accountability. If you do that, more often than not, you'll get away with only a warning (or something very minor).

Anyway the day in question (many years ago now) this particular officer basically wrote me up for everything he could possibly find (4 tickets total I think it was, originally stopped for tint) and kept me in a parking lot with his lights on for nearly an hour, I was very happy that was for sure.
The same thing happened to me about 3moths ago, driving back home from Red Deer. I was driving my Chrysler 300, and I was speeding (132). Once he pulled me over, he started listing all of the things that he was going to charge me with: tinted tail light, plate cover, tinted windows, tinted signal lights, speeding.... basically a $450 ticket.

I just stayed calm and talked to him about all of that. At the end, he issued me only a $90 speeding ticket.

Definately, cops are out there to do a service and they are prolly more stressed than most the general public due to the crap that people come up with. I know how to deal with cops first hand as I also ride a sportbike and in 6+ years of riding I have never been ticketed. If you treat them with respect in most cases they will deal the same.
