  • Sold my Euro for a Domestic

Sold my 01 S4 Stage II to a happy owner. Picked up a 04 Cadillac CTS-V.

    101,000 km
    6 speed
    Silver with black interior
    UUC shifter
    Magnaflow exhausts (nice growl)
    Upgraded brakes

    400 hp, 395 ft/lbs of torque.

Different powercurver than the S4 but is a headturner just like the B5. The silver looks relatively clean most of the time. Some neat gadgets and the Nav is fun.

Picture shown is not my car but pretty much the same without tinted windows. Gonna fix the 1st-4th shift bug and get a tune up. Getting some winter tires and I think that's it. Spent enough $ on the S4 :-)

Well, the shifter is clunky. There's the flaw of not able to get into 2nd from 1st if rpm is low. They have fixes for that. I like the interior actually. The glovebox is small but the seats holds the driver well. The gauges are well marked and the Nav unit is cool. Whole bunch of electronic toys to play with as well via the Nav.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Some like Japanese, some like Euros. Some likes V8 and some like FI. I like the chisled exterior while some think it's hideous. As it's RWD traction could be an issue. I would think cost of parts will be cheaper but we will see. With the Magnaflow this thing howls. May be a tad loud for me but it's cool.

The S4 I had turns head because of the shhhhhhh turbo spooling sound. The CTS-V turns head cuz of the V8 rumble. Had I sold the Acura too I would have considered this CTS-V, a CTS-V with supercharger from the USA, and Jay's Stage III+. I phoned Jay but he had too many cars and don't need a trade. I ended up trading the TL-S and $ for the Caddy. The Acura has been great. Nothing spectacular, but roomy, nice looking, 6000x more reliable than the S4 and many domestics, and not exactly slow. It's more conservative than the S4 or CTSV and I am at the point that I like some aggressiveness.

Don't mind the funny writing. English is my 2nd language :-)

PS. The 2009 CTS-V is quite cool.

09 TLs are not out yet as far as I know. Your dad must have an 08.

If it is an 09 did he get the one with AWD? It's about time TLs came with that option.

OP lets see some pics of the Caddy

I like the TL-S. The current generation I test drove and the clutch took a bit of getting used to. The one I got was 2003 and it was quick, roomy, very reliable, nice looking etc. They only have tiptronic though.

The new ones, type S or not are nice. AWD with a bit more HP would be kicking!

I think Cadillac and Lincoln are pushing more into a younger market. When you were younger and heard the words Cadillac or Lincoln you thought about your grandma and grandpa's car.
