yeah, all by hand. my arms feel like noodles.

I used a Mother's California Clay Bar, and the rest were all Meguire's - the paint cleaner, polish, and carnuba wax.

Would you mind doing a small write up of the steps and products that you used?
I would like to see what people are doing and see if I am doing it right etc.

vortex has some good write up on detailing your own car. best thing to do it too take your time. dont rush. With clay bar, you gotta make sure you have lots of lube, dont want to get a hole in the clear, that would suck.

Chris. car loooks really nice, good job man.

Step 1... cut a hole in the box...

                            jk

First I washed the car at the coin car wash and dried it with microfibre towels. Then I clay barred the hell out of it and rinsed off the residual detailing spray (does anyone else think it smells like cinnamon?). Next I used a paint polisher wax that is meant to get rid of all the built up grime and "haze". It's essentially a supplement to the clay bar. When buffing it off I recommend using a micro-fibre cloth as it gets very chalky and will leave "dust deposits" all over your nooks and crannies.

The next step was to use Meguire's Paint Polish. This goes on like a wax, but you're actually supposed to rub it in really well. I used liberal amounts of it. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to buff out afterwards as it does not "set" like a wax does, but the extra work definitely pays off. I could see my reflection perfectly in the paint. It was that shiny already.

I planned on finishing off with 2 coats of Meguire's Carnuba Wax, but decided one was enough. My arms were in agony. So just the one coat of wax and she was all done (well, I also cleaned all the glass and put tire shine on). By the end of it all my arms were dead and hanging limp. When I went to put everything in my trunk I literally had barely enough strength to close the hatch!

Then it rained the next day.
