  • My first car, '02 Volkswagen Golf 2.0 GLS.

For a first car I'm completely stoked!

I'm really looking forward to making this car pull out some numbers, because right now I guess you could say it's quick, but definitely not fast by any stetch of the imagination.

I'm currently looking into purchasing cold air intake or short ram and hopefully installing it myself with a few buddies, but I'm looking for suggestions on a good air filter system -- hopefully not too expensive, but yet will add some decent numbers and will just puuuur.

Also trying to arrange my priorities and see if I can get an exhaust system at the same time, but it all depends if I can stretch my budget within the two!

I'll actually go out and get some nice night time shots after she's all cleaned up!

    Cheers.

Welcome and congrats on teh Vdub.. im my opion, that is the easiest and cheap way to go, and it works the same, if not better. There is TONS of ppl arguing about this topic, so if you really want to read it, go to vortex forums and check it out and there is also TONS of info on moddin the 2.0l's on the same forums. Hope that helps out, and good luck with your search,

3 inch pipe? Nooo , go 4.5 or even 5.

Stock airbox with stock filter is a fantastic design - sorry, no huge gains swapping it for a filter on a stick.

I got a magnaflow 2.25 on my 1.8T that netted close to 10hp at the wheels. Other than that, not a heck of a lot of options.

          That looks massive Geoff!
There is a good thread on vortex about doing up a 2.0L engine and netting close to 400hp.
          Got 5?

Small mods such as an intake and exhauast won't get you much, especially on a 2.0L engine.
