Veteran spy shooter Hans Lehmann has snagged photos of what looks to be an unusual Maserati test mule. According to his Hidden Image crew, this “breadvan”-like mule is actually a prototype of the new Maserati GT that will replace the company’s existing Coupe and Spider.
Caught testing around the Nürburgring, the car is reportedly being designed with a retractable steel roof, and will come with a Ferrari-developed V8 nestled between its wheelwells. The only discernable Maserati cues from this well-covered tester are the car’s general proportions and the wheels and grille opening.
Despite current appearances, expect a traditional Italian beauty when the production model rolls ‘round.
