The four-wheel-drive Ferrari FF has officially been retired as the Maranello-based company is introducing the GTC4 Lusso as its replacement.

Essentially a facelifted FF , the new GTC4Lusso adopts an evolutionary design with an array of subtle cosmetic tweaks to go along with the name change. Noticeable modifications include the restyled front bumper with built-in air intakes, along with rear air vents, a roof-mounted spoiler, and double circular taillights. Ferrari also tweaked the rear diffuser and it says all of the body changes help boost the supercar’s aerodynamic efficiency.

Stepping inside the cabin, the GTC4 Lusso hosts Ferrari’s latest infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display and there is also a smaller steering wheel possible thanks to a more compact airbag. New buttons and a redesigned Manettino dial are also part of the package, along with a cool recess between the seats designed to hold the key.

More importantly, the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V12 engine has been taken from the FF’s 651 horsepower (486 kilowatts) and 504 pound-feet (683 newton meters) of torque to 680 hp (507 kW) and 515 lb-ft (697 Nm). The added punch has slashed 0.3 seconds from the sprint to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) which now takes just 3.4 seconds. As for top speed, it has remained unchanged at 208 mph (335 kph).

On top of these upgrades, the GTC4Lusso has gained rear-wheel steering featuring the proprietary Slip Side Control setup working with the electronic differential and dampers. According to Ferrari, the technology allows the supercar handle the “extraordinary torque even on snow-covered, wet or low-grip roads.”

The Ferrari GTC4Lusso will be revealed to the public at the beginning of March in Geneva and will probably be more expensive than the defunct FF given the upgrades.

            Re: Ferrari GTC4Lusso

Ferrari took the wraps off the V12-powered, all-wheel-drive GTC4Lusso earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show to serve as a replacement for the FF. Now, for the upcoming Paris Motor Show, the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V12 engine of the regular GTC4Lusso will have a turbocharged companion in the form of a 3.9-liter V8 inside the brand new RWD-only GTC4Lusso T.

The eight-cylinder engine derived from the 488 GTB is able to unleash a mighty 610 horsepower (448 kilowatts) at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 561 pound-feet (760 Newton-meters) attainable from 3,000 rpm. That will be enough turbocharged prancing horse power to allow the GTC4Lusso T sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in three and a half seconds, making it only a tenth of a second slower than the V12 beast. In terms of maximum velocity, the latest product to come from Maranello will be able to reach more than 200 mph (320 kph), so it will have a tad lower top speed than its 208-mph (335-kph) NA counterpart.

Tipping the scales at 1,740 kilograms (3,836 pounds, dry), the turbocharged Ferrari GTC4Lusso is 50 kg (110 lbs) lighter than the V12-equipped model. The loss of four cylinders and the adoption of a RWD-only layout along with turbocharging had a slight impact on the weight distribution as well, now at 46% front and 54% rear, instead of the regular version’s 47% front and 53% rear.

Besides getting a different engine and a RWD setup, the GTC4Lusso T comes with a recalibrated rear-wheel steering more responsive than before and it has also received additional updates to its other dynamic control systems. Ferrari promises the instant throttle response of the V8 will enable a virtually zero turbo lag also thanks to the Variable Boost Management granting “a feeling of vivid but superbly progressive acceleration” throughout all the gears.

Not like it matters a great deal when dealing with a supercar, but fuel consumption in the combined cycle is down from the 15.3 liters of the V12 model to 11.6 liters / 100 km as a result of the smaller and turbocharged engine. Consequently, CO2 emissions have dropped from 350 g/km to 265 g/km.

Ferrari will have the GTC4Lusso T on display in October at the Paris Motor Show where the LaFerrari will also drop its top with the new sold-out Aperta version.
