I would be in for leather even if the cloth had bolsters just prefer it. I am really not sure if February would work for me now that I have the Smart. However if the sale of my condo goes through as good as I think may change things but probably have to wait a little bit, even though I am super tempted...

If I could afford it I would get cloth and replace the seats on my next car.

Read that article on vortex (the one these pic's came from) and at the end it talks about pricing briefly - 23,5 USD (roughly 27CAD). Id imagine package 2 (leather..only to get the sport seats, sunroof,climatronic..forget if theres anything else) will be about 3k so thats 30CAD if their numbers are close at all...

now I think US gtis sell for about ~4k less (after currency exchange) so does that mean we can expect to see mid-30's pricing for the GTI here in canada?

The base price will be more than the Jetta (28,000) based on features.

They have to price the Golf cheaper than the Audi A3 (33,000).

So somewhere between 29,000 and 32,000 to start. I bet closer to the Jetta side... something like 30,000 base.

            BUT

Premium package on the Jetta V is $5,400 <-- holy crap

So the Golf premium package will have to be very similar.

            So for a premium leather Golf 2.0T 6-speed, $35,000.

Thats my guess. They absolutely will not sell them for more than the Audi, that would violate so many rules. They will also not make the luxury package way cheaper on the Golf/GTI than the Jetta.

I guess its possible that they might put the base price below the Jetta slightly, since the Jetta is bigger now, more like a mid/full size. But still, I think that there are more features on the GTI and so they will want more.

            We should start a pool!

I think they're going to shoot themselves in the foot if it comes in anywhere over 33k.

                $37,050 - Audi a3 2.0t, sport pkg and HIDs
$36,300 - Acura TSX opt'd the way Id go

edit: even a weiner 323i is $35,200MSRP (didnt bother pricin it out cause Id never get a 323 haha)

I hope not too, because I want the Audi , don't want them to be TOO common.

see my problem with the VW's is they are pushing into a market where they dont belong. They are trying to push into the "upper end car" market when that's not where their success has been. If some one goes to buy a BMW they expect to pay a little more (and even the 320 & 323 are mid 30's, but atleased they have RWD unlike these VW toys ) but if someone goes to pick up a VW they dont want to be looking at a price tag of Mid 30's. The sales just wont come...

                        That's just my $0.02
