Mk5 GTI (showroom pics inside!)

So while in Holland, I checked out the VW dealership down the road....I got to see and sit in a new GTI, but unfortunately not drive one (they don't keep them on hand like our dealers do)....Anyhow, I personally take back all nasty things I said about this car, I love it......its big though, bigger than I expected....but the seats are VERY comfy, surprising for the bolster shapes....and of course, in my favorite colour, tornado red! Onto the pics:








A little Polo GTI that was across the street from us all the time, I love these little cars! This one had a nicer interior than my car!! Sorry no pics of that, but the "through the window" pictures didn't turn out!


And what they use for in city cop cars (go figure), there was a Mk5 (fuzzy pic), and a bunch of Mk4's, all diesel!



Plus, I saw various other versions of out Mk3's, a 16V one, a GT TDI, a whole load of different Mk4 engine choices, such as SDI (cheapest diesel), 3 different TDI's, FSI, V6, VR6, V5, 1.4, 1.6 (most common), 1.8, and 2.0.....all in VW's.....no pics though!!

Oh yea, the MK3's got a 16V over there, it came with 150hp, not bad for a mk3.

If I remember it right the Mk IV was offered in Europe with 9 different motors.

Mk V is offered with 5 gas and 4 diesel engines, plus you can have a 140 Hp diesel with 6 speed 4 motion

That engine (ABF) was constructed to compete with 165HP Kadett GSi (later Astra - Golf's biggest competitor on German market) and was originally rated @ 170HP but that would not help to sale more expensive nose heavy VR6 that was producing only 174 HP so the ABF was choked with ECU down to 150HP - a simple chip was a heaven under the foot.

Wow, 170, without the weight of a VR6, that would be sweet. A company on Vortex imported a few of them (whole cars, not just motors) a month or so ago, people oohing and awwing all over the place.

2.0T FSI engine.... looks wicked. The new Jetta disgusts me. I wanna puke down the designers throats.. and then pee... ok im getting carried away but not nice.

The rims that come with the GTI's are kinda fugly too. Nice for winter =)

Seems like almost everyone is changing thier tune about the Mk5's the golf expecially. After Ryan and I drove the new jetta we where impressed with the handlging to no end but the rear tails still suck. Glad to hear you had a good trip

oh brent i forgot to mention.. remember our gripe about the headliner.. well after talking to a ton of people on vortex.. the mk5s,etc have the EXACT same headliner material as audis have so the B6 A4s,etc have alwasy had that material and oddly i've never heard a complaint on audiworld so it must be aight in the end

I really like the new GTI and should they decide to bring the 4 door version to Canada I would be all over that. Love the plaid seat too.

soon my friend soon! i ordered my stalk from german ebay 2 days ago so hopefully its hear early next week.. then i'm getting shipped off to the US and won't be back until right before the uofc show
