My impressions.
The Audi A3 was an interesting experience for me. Let me start out by saying that when I went to the show, it was not particularly to see the Audi A3. I was not any kind of Audi fan and in general and especially not a fan of the four-door A3 (I did like the two-door A3).
The first thing I saw when I came near the Audi A3 was the 2.0T badge. The A3 and A4 at the show have the new 2.0t engines in them! Outstanding! That got me excited a little. I popped the hood when nobody was looking.
Secondly, the A3's black roof with huge sunroof looks amazing. Pictures cannot capture its beauty and unique look, but I can't describe it in words either.
The profile of the car is awesome. The A3 four-door looks kinda big in pictures but in person it is a very small car! Its just the size of all the other hatches, it is not wagon-y even though it has four doors. The front looks outstanding, the hood almost has a factory boser-look to it over the square audi headlight openings. The back is simple but elegant without any kind of cheap ricey tails or tricks.
The OEM wheels on the A3 are some of the best OEM wheels VW has made, they look great. The spokes have a sharp cut to them and the sides/inside of the wheel spokes are gunmetal.
Inside, the seats are nothing special but at least as good as leather seats in the Mk4 Jetta or GTI. Which is to say they are fairly nice! They are much nicer than the Jetta V seats let me tell you. The plastic used on the interior is not plastic-y and in general the inside feels expensive like an Audi should. They do not over-use the aluminum trim and it does seem to me to be real aluminum. The vents are a lot like in the Audi TT and the overall dash look blows away the Audi A4 offerings, its a lot more like the ultra-modern TT look. The only weakness is the CHEAP stereo with CASSETTE in the middle of the dash. What was Audi thinking... definitely need to ask Bart to get you OEM nav.
