The Q2 is not due to go on sale until this fall, but Audi is already thinking about ways to spice up the lineup of its smallest ever crossover. According to Stephan Knirsch, Audi’s Board member for Technical Development, it would be “relatively easy” to roll out an SQ2 taking into account both the Q2 and A3/S3 ride on the same flexible MQB platform.

He went on to specify the company with the four-ring logo is indeed thinking about whether to put the S3’s turbocharged four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine inside a potential SQ2. We remind you the TFSI engine churns a generous 310 horsepower (228 kilowatts) and 280 pound-feet (380 newton meters) of torque in the facelifted S3 range with the manual gearbox and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) for the S tronic models. That should be plenty of punch to satisfy one’s hunger for power in the subcompact crossover segment.

However, Auto Express has learned from Audi insiders there also might be a full-blown RS Q2 model with a turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine sourced from the RS3. The latter is about to get a facelift which will up the power ante to 400 hp (298 kW), so a potential RS Q2 would be stronger than the 375-hp Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 facelift.

With the regular Q2 set to go on sale this fall, it means the SQ2 will not come out sooner than late 2017 / early 2018 while a possible RS version is unlikely to be launched before the end of 2018.

It looks like they made it too high and the arches too big so they just added a valence over all the arches and around the whole car.

Well I would imagine it is aimed exactly at the Citroen C4 Cactus which is very popular, and lifted a bit too!
