  • What Tires: 275 or 265?

    Hey Gang,

Time to get new meats for the RS4. Car currently has some sh*t 255/35 Kumho's ever so slightly stretched on my 9.5 ET25 Roti's (see pic below). Will be getting a new set of Pilot Super Sports in the next week or two however, haven't decided between 265/35's or 275/35's? The 265's will sit almost perfectly square and are most likely the smart choice. Thinking the 275's may be a little "fat" looking and potentially some rubbing issues?

Anyhow, thought I'd post up in case others have had experiences they can share. Cheers...

It will fill out the wheel profile, but at that ride height, I don't think it'll cause any headaches with rubbing. If you lower it then it will for sure.

Found a few pics of the 265 "look" vs 275 on 9.5 rims. I think I'm leaning 275 at this point...

Wider is better. 275 PSS will fit perfectly on the 9.5 and is that tire size's design rim width.

Are you doing spacers. I went with 255's and 10 mm spacers.

Good to know. I think that settles it... 275's it is. Besides... although the slightly larger tire will raise the car... it will also fill out the arch gap a bit as well.

Didn't plan on it. The wider Roti's already poke about 10mm or so more than the OEM rims.

Ya it will be .6 of and inch taller with the 275s but will fill out the wheel well better. Will look beefy.

I'd go 265 with the Michelin PSS tires. They have a puffier sidewall than other tires and have a rim guard design. I have mounted 100's of them and they are always the most square sidewall and puffiest.

Re: What Tires: 275 or 265?

So I went to Kal-Tire today to see if I could find some PSS's in the 265 variety. After much consideration, I decided to go with 265's based on the feedback above and some of my own research. I actually noticed that the new F80 M3/M4's with the 9 inch fronts and 10 rears use PSS's in 255 and 275 respectively. As such, makes perfect sense to use 265's on the RS.

However, after searching the entire Kal-Tire Inventory... we couldn't seem to find a 265/35R19 anywhere. Not Michelin's, not Bridgestone's... nothing. Arrrrgh! After 20+ minutes of searching... the best we could find was a Nitto Invo. Of course... there was one catch... it was a 275?! Ugh. So frustrating. Anyhow, suffice to say, I walked away with nothing so it's back to the drawing board. They might have some Michelin's available in May or something like that so at this point I can either wait... or consider changing my rims to go wider or back to the OEM 9.

Hmmm... maybe I'll check Crappy Tire tomorrow. Not that I want them to do the work... but perhaps they'll have some PSS's in stock?

                    Pics for clicks! Cheers...

I have lots of options in town if interested. Such as Continental, Bridgestone, BFG, Pirelli

No PSS currently on hand. They are are on order though. I do have the PS2

So... I've been able to source 3 PSS's in town. Arrrgh... too bad it wasn't for a Morgan 3-wheeler... LOL. Anyone know of where I could find a 4th 265/35R19 PSS?

Random Question for you tire guys:
There are two part numbers for the above tires (59800 and 54687) signifying OEM Mercedes and Porsche tires respectively... however, I'm assuming this is just for the tire company... no? The tires are identical are they not?

My order for the pss came in. I have 4 of the 54687

the 54687 and 59800 are slightly different. From what I see only the tread depth is different
