Audi has officially unveiled the RS3 Sportback.
Billed as a "world-beating car" with a "class-conquering engine," the RS3 Sportback features an aggressive front fascia with large air intakes and a quattro-branded grille. The sporty styling continues further back as the model has faux aluminum mirror caps, a reduced ride height and a new rear bumper with a gloss black diffuser. Other notable highlights include a dual exhaust system and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin largely carries over but comes nicely equipped with Nappa leather sport seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and contrast stitching. There's also stainless steel pedals and 3D Design Black, Aluminum Race or carbon fiber trim.
A 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine resides under the hood and produces 367 PS (270 kW) and 465 Nm (342 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system which enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) - or 174 mph (280 km/h) upon request.
Speaking of performance, the model comes with a sport-tuned suspension, a wider track and an Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system. There's also high-performance brakes and a progressive steering system which is capable of varying its ratio between 15.3:1 and 10.9:1. If that's not hardcore enough, customers can order carbon ceramic brakes and an adaptive damper system.
The RS 3 Sportback will go on sale in the United Kingdom in March and the first deliveries are scheduled for next summer.
