I'm a fan of wagons, but I dislike the trend of the massive slope on the rear. Doing so basically renders the wagon useless for one of my primary purposes to owning one...having 2 medium-large sized dogs in the back.

That is true but we might end up seeing avants/wagons and shooting brakes as two separate models which is getting to be the trend with the German brands.

          Re: Audi Prologue Concept

I am kind of disapointed with the exterior personally, it just looks like another Audi, maybe a R8 front on a A8 coupe. The interior is very nice except for the steering wheel which needs the nice hand forming grips I've come to love on the R steering wheels.

Overall I don't feel very excited about this one.

              Re: Audi Prologue Concept

Audi has officially unveiled the Prologue Avant concept, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Described as a "new interpretation of the Avant philosophy," the concept is a stylish wagon that has a wide single frame grille that is flanked by Matrix Laser headlights and sporty air intakes. Moving further back, we can see muscular fenders, chiseled bodywork and handle-less doors which are operated by a discreet sensor that is integrated into the aluminum window surrounds. The concept also has a tailgate-mounted spoiler, three dimensional taillights and 22-inch alloy wheels.

The interior is tastefully restrained and features an elegant mix of materials including aluminum, dark ash wood trim and Unikat leather. Despite the relatively clean design, the car is loaded with technology as it has three touchscreen displays and two detachable OLED displays that act as a rear seat entertainment system. The concept also has four individual seats and a long center console with a pass-through that "appears to hover."

Power is provided by a plug-in hybrid system that consists of a 3.0-liter TDI engine, an electric motor and a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup enables the car to produce a combined maximum output of 455 PS (335 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

In terms of performance, the concept can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). More impressively, the car averages 1.6L/100km (147 mpg US / 176.5 mpg UK) and can travel up to 54 km (33.6 mi) on electricity alone.

Speaking of performance, the concept has carbon ceramic brakes, an adaptive air suspension and a dynamic all-wheel-drive steering system. The latter enables the rear wheels to turn up to five degrees for "good handling and high drive stability."

Allroad is the next version to come...

According to a recent report, Audi will introduce a Prologue Allroad concept at the Shanghai Motor Show.

Details are limited but Autocar is reporting the model will follow in the footsteps of the previous Prologue concepts and preview the next-generation A6 Allroad.

Little else is known about the concept but we can expect traditional Allroad styling cues including beefier bumpers, extended wheel arches and an increased ride height.

Sources have also told the magazine the interior will have "more rugged looking design elements."

The Shanghai Motor Show kicks off later this month, so stay tuned for full details.

Re: Audi Prologue Concept/Prologue Avant Concept

Audi has officially revealed the Prologue Allroad concept prior to its debut, scheduled for the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show.

Rumors about the third member of the Prologue family turned out to be true as the German brand has taken the wraps off the Prologue Allroad concept that previews the next generation A6 Allroad. The company explains the study “reflects a fresh interpretation of the typical allroad themes, providing a clear glimpse at the brand’s design future”.

The 5.13-meter long vehicle is 77 mm higher than the Prologue Avant concept and “displays the new, dynamic interpretation of the Audi allroad philosophy”. It features a long front end, sloped roofline and flat D pillars. Also notable are the matrix laser headlights and LED rear lights.

The interior comes with four separated seats and a “groundbreaking” operating system with three touchscreen displays. The front passenger can configure the infotainment options using a widescreen display fully integrated into the instrument panel. He can swipe to send these to the right driver display or to the Audi virtual cockpit future behind the steering wheel. Rear passengers benefit from an additional OLED display on the center console to adjust the seats, the climate control system and the infotainment for their area or to exchange data with the driver.

Powering the Prologue Allroad concept is a hybrid system that consists of a 4.0-liter TFSI petrol engine with two turbochargers and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic transmission. 734 PS (540 kW) and 900 Nm (663.8 lb-ft) accelerate the machine from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. Average fuel consumptions stands at 2.4 liters per 100 km (98 US mpg) which corresponds to 56 grams CO2 per km.

A lithium-ion battery is mounted in the rear of the car. It has a capacity of 14.1 kWh for a purely electric range of 54 kilometers (33.6 miles). With its AWC (Audi wireless charging) technology the concept can also be charged inductively.

The front and wheel axles have a lightweight five-link constructions and 20-inch carbon-fiber ceraminc brake discs. The vehicle rides on an
adaptive air suspension that offers a wide range between "extremely comfortable cruising and tight handling". Also interesting is thedynamic all-wheel steering system that combines a variable-ratio, dynamic steering unit with an additional steering unit for the rear wheels.
