BMW has released two teaser sketches of the M6 GT3 set to make its racing debut for the 2016 season.
The new M6 GT3 seen here will act as a replacement for the Z4 GT3 which will be retired at the end of 2015. Development of the new track car is already in progress and BMW Motorsport is planning to conduct preliminary testing in the first quarter of next year.
Power will come from the same twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter of the road-going car but it will be further modified for racing applications so expect output to go well beyond the series 560 HP & 680 Nm. Moreover, BMW's engineers will also conduct some chassis optimizations to meet racetrack demands and the car will also benefit from race-spec ABS, gearbox and electronics.
Those who are interested in the BMW M6 GT3 will be able to place an order sometime next year, with deliveries beginning late 2015 before competing in the 2016 BMW Sports Trophy.
