  • Looking for some insight with 2.0t coil conversion on a 2.7t

A couple weeks back I did the 2.0 coil conversion. The car ran great (literally ZERO issues) for 2 days and then I got the following codes out of the blue:

    17763 - Cylinder 1 Ignition Circuit
    P1355 - 35-10 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
    17766 - Cylinder 2 Ignition Circuit
    P1355 - 35-10 - Open Circuit - Intermittent

I replaced both of those coilpacks and also re-soldered all the connections and I STILL have issues. Now they are almost worse though and I get misfires on both those cylinders as well. The only thing I haven't done is change the spark plugs...could that cause these issues or is it strictly wiring related? I'm thinking if it's wiring related I could be f'ed as I've triple checked the connections and they look good...new engine harness?

    TIA!

Could it be related to the ignition amplifier wiring? Definitely sounds wiring related if the coils have been changed out... (Or coil pack dance)

Could be, but wouldn't I be seeing all 3 cylinders on that side with issues? Also, I swapped the ICM harnesses that came with my 'kit' and the issue stays with those 2 cylinders...

Any wiring/electrical gurus want some money/beer to have a look? I'm kind of at a loss right now and I'm not exactly a wiring expert lol

Re: Looking for some insight with 2.0t coil conversion on a 2.7t

I would swap the ignition coils around in the engine (aka swap 1 and 4 and 2 and 5) and see if the problem follows the coil or if the issue is with the wiring. If the problem follows the coil then the ignition coil is shot. If the problem sticks with the same cylinder then remove those spark plugs and swap them around to see if its just the grounding/gapping/build up on the spark plugs. These two things (for free) can eliminate or confirm both the spark plugs and the ignition coils are good/bad. Then if they are both swapped and the same cylinder is still getting these codes then it is the wiring for sure

Here my old thread from 4 years ago. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...52-ICM-Delete?

Dunno if it will help at all since you are using harness from a kit?

I made sure each coil had its own ground.

What kit did you use? What plugs? What Gap? Are all connections soldered?

Did you label your connections and plug them in with the appropriate cylinder? Maybe you have some wires crossed?
