    b6 wipers ugh

    the frosty weather yesterday morning left me with a broken drivers side wiper blade, which i found out has some wacky one off wiper blade, that sucks. i guess it's an early '03 production...flaw. i'm sure the dealer has blades but at what cost lol. i don't really want to keep the stock set up as finding another blade on the fly is going to be a problem. so i have read about doing a b7 aero wiper blade/arm conversion, as my drivers side arm is getting pretty corroded also.

    i'm gonna call around today and to see if i can get locally but am just wondering what you other b6 guys are doing for wiper blades and/or if any of you have done this swap.

    Natty will be able to get it locally within fairly short notice... probably not in time for the upcoming snowy weekend though.

      thanks for the reply. not too sure about that guy. dealer want's $103+ per arm plus the blades on top of that. seems cheaper to order that kit from ecs but not too sure what they charge for shipping. and i sort of need it ASAP. anyways, these are the part #'s i've found for the conversion.

      8E1 955 407 C 8E1 955 408 C for the arms
      8Z0 955 205 the dust caps
      4B1 955 425 C the blades.

      i do need to paint my hood and replace the windshield so i might hold off on the conversion and just pick up a blade for $25. really sucks to find this out when there's a problem, and rain in the forecast lol!

        Curious as to why you are not sure about me? I have had many happy customers, especially on this forum. There has been rarely any issues and if so they were resolved quickly and customer left happy.

        I have all the items you are after, and I am pretty sure they are in town as well. However if you found your blades to be a wacky one off style it is possible that you already have the aero blades. The a4 came with 2 options the std blade and aero.

              this became a need vs. want and i need working wipers and want the conversion. so i just went to the dealer and bought the mount that is broken. i figured it was part of the blade but apparently they sell the louvre/mount for $22. it will do the job i need until i do the swap.

              sorry, natty but i just didn't get a great feel for you with the few messages and times we tried to connect. i take some blame because it's just too much of an inconvenience for me to bother. i know you have a good rep here and i'm sure you won't take it personally.

              and although it was nice to see some replies, "just wondering what you other b6 guys are doing for wiper blades and/or if any of you have done this swap." means just that. not to plug some guys business. i didn't make the thread for that. if anyone else has something to add about wiper blade info, part #'s or whether or not you've done the swap, chime in. otherwise, you might as well close this thread.

                i have a b6 a4. I went to auto value got new wipers and put them on, michelin ones they fit just fine.

                  I did the swap back in the day, it really helped the contact at higher speeds.

                  I'm actually going to see if I can retro the b6 arms to my Cq or UrS4. Though, from what I've read, the Cq needs TT225 arms and the UrS4 needs C5 AR/A6 arms.

                    thanks for the info. nice to see someone else has done the swap. i will do it soon enough too but just had to get it going again. i did find that you can buy wiper blades for it also, but it was my mount that the blade attaches to that was broken, and that was a dealer item. i thought it was part of the blade because i've never seen such a stupid set up before.
