Looking into buying an 02/03 audi a4 b6. Any advice on what to look 4 and reviews?

Hey everyone,

So I'm looking to buy a b6 A4 and I don't know too too much about them apart from what people have said on various forums and from sites that display the specs (ie motortrend, edmunds etc). So I was wondering if anyone who has owned one, or still does, has any points that should be noted when going to buy one?

The good, the bad, the ugly?

Does this one have a 1.8t? The 3.0L was kinda sleepy. The glove box door hinge is typically broken, check the rear cam seal on the engine, they are prone to leaks. The Leather on the drives seat cracks. That's all I can think of off of the top of my head. If the car is clean and looks like it has been taken car of, it's most likely in good shape. If there are broken trim pieces that have been neglected, most likely there are mechanical parts of the car that are in the same situation.

Rob's got some solid points. In addition:

-- oil changes
-- ask about the coil pack recall
-- coolant neck flange in the back of the motor
-- peeling trim switches
-- cup/card holders like to break
-- does a/c work or does the ECON button stay on all the time?
-- arm rests like to break
-- two fobs, a mechanic's key and a valet key?
-- full size spare?
-- all window work without sounding crunchy?


That's about all I can think of for now, there are some other common issues.
