  • Fitment

Hey guys. Im looking for advice on fitment.
Ive got an 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and am going to be putting ST Coilovers on. (Still on the fence about ordering HyperCo springs for the rear. Any suggestions?)
    Im ordering ESM 002R's in 18x9.5 +40.
Now tires is something that im not very familiar with... Im looking towards the Falken 950's as they are the successor to the Falken 912's (which are good for stretching from what I've heard)
The reason im looking to the 950's is that the 912's are discontinued..
Will 225/40/18's fit perfectly? The reason why I ask is that I've found this - http://forums.thecarlounge.com/showt...ld-18x9-5-et40
He's running the same wheels I will be running, but I dont know what suspension hes running... hah.
    Any input would be great.
    Thanks!

    Re: Fitment

"Fitment" is very subjective. Check out Tyrestretch.com as it will have lots of examples of how stretched tires look on various widths of wheels. a 225/40 on a 9.5 will be a decent amount of stretch, but only you can decide if thats really what you are looking to acheive.

      Re: Fitment

i run 235/35/19 on a 9.5 and the stretch is decent but my offset is +25 so mine stick out alot more from the fender.
id say that you would be safe with the 18x9.5 et40 with 225 40 or even a 235/40/18.

How low do you plan on going? I'm running a 205/40 on a 9.5 and it's quite a bit, but I'm running aggressive offsets. If you have a lot of stretch and aren't low, it's not gonna look good.

Hehe I understand that figment is subjective. I'll have a look through that website though p arkus. Thanks.
But how low? I'm not sure how low the stock st springs go in the back. I know the front can be as low as possible haha. Another thing.... Should I get a skid plate? It is calgary after all....
          Thanks guys.

            Re: Fitment

i have kwv2's which are fairly close to ST coils.
my rears are maxxed out. with +40 offset, it SHOULD work
            but no promises

Hmm yeah. What spacers are you running?
In the picture I had previously posted he was running 20mm in the rear and 15mm in the front?
              Thanks

If you are planning in going pretty low, go with the 215 or a 225.

In my oppinion I think skid plates are useless, I think they only make the car closer to the ground, and a lot of times they rest right up against the oilpan anyways. Yes I've broken a pan, but a skid plate would have just bent up and broken the pan anyways.

Why wear helmets then. They sit right up against your head...

                    Re: Fitment

Yeaa I have had skid plates save me numerous times. Hell I even bent the mounts on my skid plates, but no busted oil pan.

But seriously if you are hitting your oil pan that hard that you can break it even with a skid plate - reevaluate your driving.

i see stories on vortex all the time where guys bust pans right though the plate, happens more than you'd think.

                          Re: Fitment

So the consensus on skid plates is pretty .... indifferent. hah.
I guess I'll make my decision once I actually get my car to the height I want it then evaluate it from there. The added protection seems appealing.
But T-Dubbs Oh I see. But thats a +15 difference. hah. I've gotta get the spacers after I test fit the wheels anyways.. But as to tires... I THINK i'm going to stick with 225's then..
Anyone heard much about the 950's even though they are pretty new? Only 1 review on 1010.. Think they should be as good to stretch as the 912's?

I cracked my pan through the skidplate. However that ice chunk would have taken out the entire oil pan, and oil pickup, and gotten a shot at the crank as well. I am all in favor of extra protection between the road and my vehicle, especially static

You can see where the skid plate hit the pan right in front of the oil drain hole
