  • ECUProgram stage 2 tuning virtual dyno results

Was just flashed to a stage 2 yesterday. Quite pleased with the power, makes JB4 seem like a Honda civic!

Any 335i owners should consider it!

This is on petrocanada 94 octane, no downpipes (stock quad cat setup), stock charge pipe, bms dual cone and a bms catch can.

How accurate is that "digital dyno"? Those are aome good looking numbers though!

If all values are entered correctly they are usually pretty bang on compared to a dynojet.

I think I might take a spin on a real dyno once I go stage 3.

I pulled with a JB4 335i my friend owns last night, and my car pulled ahead quite a bit on full throttle.

I thought they have a dyno there?

It's just an off the shelf map?

I called there to ask about doing a custom tune for my B5. Guy's response was "Ya...of course we can tune that... WE TUNE LAMBORGHINIS"

Digital Dynos are only as accurate as the data and sensor speed. If you weigh your car (with you and all fluids)on a roadside scale and use that data. The road you are testing on is flat and was measured as flat or known to be flat. You have the accurate coefficient of drag and frontal area of your car on and on. Also the data speed of the connection has to be fast WIFI better that Bluetooth, accuracy of the sensors, Google Nexus faster than Samsung(real slow with all that UI overhead crap).

Road conditions and tires also have a huge effect. I can get an 80 to 100hp bump on mine just by spinning the tires. So if Calgary's road crews would just leave all this gravel on the roads year round and I just leave the skinny winter tires on I have another 100hp year round! WOOOHOOO!!

Kyle those numbers look great but Torque is supposed to read WHP. So those numbers would be fantastic. But with both peak HP and peak Torque both at 5040 that looks a little off. Your peak HP would be somewhere between 5000 and 5500 k but your peak torque would be much lower, somewhere around 3500.

While these apps may or may not be accurate, what they are good for is measuring change. If all things are the same( phone, road, fuel etc.) then they would be a great tool to see the difference say from before your stage 2 flash to after the flash. Stock intake over bms dual cone.

In measuring change, on JB4 I was getting 302 registered hp and 380 pounds torque.

So this gives us a ~100hp increase static.

That is the horsepower (at the wheels) option.

The phone was a galaxy note 3 flashed with AOSP.

Fuel has changed from shell 91 to petrocanada 94.

Yeah, Sim is a bit excited when he talks, but make no mistake, they do very good tunes.

They do have a Dyno, but there was a 911 Turbo on it when I was getting my tune done.

I'm not so interested in real dyno results until I'm done nodding the car, I just wanted a general idea of where I'm at.

The map is off the shelf yes, developed in house, I'm not interested in a dyno tune until the car is finished.

When you say JB4, fair to assume it was their stage 2 tune as well? (OR whatever number that coincided with your mods?)

JB4 stage 1. It's boost value is actually higher then my current tune. This runs 11psi, the JB4 ran 13. JB doesn't manipulate timing to my knowledge, relying on boost to generate more power.

I do believe a Dyno of JB4 map 2 equates to about 350hp.

Sorry but there is NOT a chance that you are at 400whp with JUST a flash.

Most likely it is not measuring wheel horsepower.

No, but it should fall within the 380 range.

                        i doubt that without downpipes
I haven't heard of that high of numbers with just an intake and a flash, especially at our altitude.

I agree with Todd, he would know. Having been in several 400whp cars, I can tell you that my brother's 07 335xi with Jb4 was far from it

Got to agree with Tod & Ryan. With an 18% drive line loss that would put you in the neighborhood of 480 crank HP and 500 ft-lbs. or if you use 15% DLL then 465hp and 485ft-lbs. Hard to do with just a flash and a intake. Just for comparison this is what a 2007 BMW 335i does at sea level and the mods it takes to get there.

Spinning the dyno early may, new mods for that are ER charge pipe with tial bov and a set of N54Tuning catless downpipes.

I will get you guys real results

A simular setup spun 389, but I'd like to know exactly what mine is.
