  • possible AFR issues

Recently my 335 has been dumping itself into mode 4 (stock with logging active) every now and again during a spirited drive. I just did my spark plugs and am no longer missfiring, so that leads me to believe the AFR is out.

Can quite cold air skew the AFR on a turbo car? I know that it should be more compressed going into the turbo, but the car should be mitigating it's own boost level and compensating for that should it not? I'm not throwing boost target codes or any codes for that matter, so it leads me to believe it may solely be the cold air.

    Any input would be awesome!

    Can you log the AFR?

The ECU should have no problem compensating for the colder air.

MAP and MAF and AIT sensors on your car? If so no problem what so ever.

        Sure does have them.

I can try to log them, but it's tricky since this idiot ran the USB under the hood... hard to use my laptop under there will driving :(

Might toss JB into learn as you drive mode and see from there.

I'm hoping for a warm day to see if I can rule some things out. Injectors are fairly new so I doubt it's them. Plugs are under 1000km old, and coils were swapped and are still reading no misfires.

You could route an USB cable through the firewall grommet and into the cabin.
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

This. You might as well make it a permanent solution

Only issue I have with that is its a perm modification. The whole reason I went JB I land not a flash tune is so I can restore the car 100% stock for sale. I don't want to be putting holes an such if I don't need to.

You can typically find grommets to slip your cables through. There are typically some main harnesses that run through the firewall with zip ties that close off the grommets that you can snip off, feed the wires through, then re-zip tie and nobody will ever know

New OBD2 adapter arrived, so I cal log AFR now.

Heres an AFR log. 15ish for idle/normal driving... Then a crazy spike on hard acceleration.

Also purchased BMWhat for my phone, it's a solid app for BMW owners. Lot's of shadow codes that I cleared, nothing new coming up
