Re: Custom turbo in a 3.2fsi engine

I think you might find to do this properly it might cost you somewhere near 10k.

Screamer pipe probably isnt the best idea if you are planning on dailying it...especially if you were to choose a smaller turbo which will be in and out of boost all the time.

Wouldnt be able do to a screamer pipe with anything that has an internal wastgate anyways.

I'd say you'd be looking at more like 20k for a build like this. I know I've spent way more than 10k on my 1.8T...

If its bottom it's a K04-001. Likely hood of that from having stock rods...... Slim, probably still a K03

Yeah true about the internal WG, I was referring more to a larger turbo. 10k was the low end...more of a budget build. (Dunno if that would really be possible with a 3.2)

Thats exactly what I was trying to get at earlier

Honestly, IMHO get something cheaper do to. Something with lots of power and work done is not ideal for a student budget...ask me how I know.

Re: Custom turbo in a 3.2fsi engine

The only reason I waS considering a built out of a 3.2 is that's what's in the car I have if I had a choice I probably would have done a different car but I got a steal ofa. Deal on this one. There would be a lot of work needed the compression would definitely have to be worked out and the tune I would need too find someone to do it... I might leave this engine alone and see if I can find a super cheap jetta or jap car to do this. I just wanted to see what kind of work would be needed for a build with this and it seems to be quite a lot more then it's truly worth for a daily. Maybe I'll save the jetta for a project car or something. But I'll deffinelyy post the turbo when it's off the car

IMO, you're better off keeping your daily driver stock and reliable, and spending that project money on acquiring a cheap project car that you plan to build up. Whether its a MK1,2,3,4 or whatever else you choose, if its something cheap, it gives you money to work on the engine. When you run out of money, the project can sit for a little bit while you save up some more cash, but it doesnt affect your everyday life like it would if you were building your daily driver.

Soooooo true. I did exactly that with my Jeep. DD = stocker, project = sits in garage.
                WTF!!?? This ain't no Jeep!
