  • B7 A4 Oil in Spark Plug Wells...

    Hey guys,
I noticed my B7 A4 2.0T was stuttering recently (probably misfiring), under heavy load. I went to go check my spark plugs and this is what I found...

Im assuming this would be due to the VC Gasket? If it is.. Should I change anything else for maintenance purposes while im in there? The car has 120k KM's on it.
IF NOT, what could be causing oil to get in there?
    Thanks guys,

Very likely valve cover gasket, check that all the bolts for the valve cover are torqued down, they are notorious for loosening.

Some valve covers are also prone to warping

I purchased this car around 105k kms on it, and the guy had previously gotten the VC gasket done at Canadian Tire. So I'm not really surprised that it went. Ill check the bolts tomorrow! Hopefully the VC isnt warped? Im thinking it was either a shitty done job (its canadian tire.. what do you expect?) Or a shitty seal. . .
            Thanks guys.

While you're at try to take off the oil cap while it is running. If you can then your okay

Might want to do a decoke on your valves while you're in there...

had a similiar issue, I did the valve cover gasket, cleaned the inside valve cover with engine degreaser, and painted the valve cover orange, my engine bay transformed into something else, looks so clean now.

Just did the VC gasket on my A4 a couple weeks ago, a coil crapped out and when I pulled it there was a little oil in the bore but nothing like what is shown. I pulled the VC and the gasket was DONE, really hard and chunks came off, barely left any residue on the head. Also all of the screws on the exhaust side were barely finger tight. 135k on the car.
