  • B6/B7 S4 Avant

I've been looking for B6/B7 S4 avant for a while, I was close to pulling the trigger on one last year (this one in fact: http://www.eurodrivers.ca/forums/sho...l=1#post276044). I see that it is for sale again on kijiji/autotrader from bonny brook auto sales (http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ547807748), with 205,000 KM now for $12,900. I've had some emails back and forth with them, they just did the valve cover gaskets (which seems a little odd as the PO said he did it as well at 195,000 KM), claims there is a little startup rattle limited to less than a second and only when cold. It's an auto which is not a deal breaker for me, and it's a california car--so no heated seats, and no pan/block heater. Does $12,900 seem like a reasonable price? I'm from Regina, so of course if I were to buy it, I would probably fly up and drive home. Just wanted to get someone else's take on it or if it was someone on this forum that owned after it sold last January and before the dealer received it.
    Thanks

10k kms put on it since it was on here last year. No winters? No stock exhaust or suspension...? Seems like a good price if the car checks out

      Thanks
Startup rattle with that mileage - Needs chain guides.

Valve cover gaskets are leaking because the coating flakes off them and will not stop until the underside has been sandblasted. Make sure they did that otherwise they will just leak again.

Thanks for the replies guys. I thought a little startup rattle < 1-2 seconds when cold was acceptable? I had heard stories, of people getting the guides done and still have a little startup rattle. Though you're probably right, at this mileage they're going to need to be done. Last summer I had talked to another guy who was selling an '04, and he got a quote of $5500 from tunedub to get the guides done. So I suppose if the price was right, for the car, a person wouldn''t be too upside down on $$ invested into it.
