Anyone have a diy link to this, i just received my coil conversion harness from 034, and the coil packs. seems like a fairly easy job , just plug and play, I just want to be positive that what I have in my mind is correct.

You don't need a DIY, take the wires and coil out.

Take the coilpacks and cut the little nub off them. Put them in and plug the harness in. It has a connector and only goes in one way. The grounds will end up close to where they should be bolted down. Zip tie the wires so they dont fall out of place.

Do you have the full plug kit or just the separate harness?

There are two ways of doing it..

      1. Complete plug and play. You dont cut a thing, simply remove the old coils and ignition amp plug in the appropriate plugs where they belong. No messing with grounds/splicing/soldering etc.
      http://store.034motorsport.com/coil-...fsi-coils.html

      2. Buy all the separate components: You need to cut the wires and solder in the new harness, as well to cut out the ignition amplifier and solder those wires together. Lots of work.. but way cheaper.

It's fairly easy, Ive got everything out, the biggest problem was getting # 4 out, just such a bad position
Everything is out, ive connected everything The only problem I have right now is getting the Coils inside, It does'nt seem to fit and I'm putting alot of force to it as well, is the a technique to get this things in tight???

Did you cut the little nub off the coils?

Hey Colin, I don't know what you mean by nub, you mean the two washer looking things at the head of the coils, its like rubber material...

P.s,just curious, if water might end up getting in there if i ever wash the engine because of those

Cut off the square bit on the side, leave the rest. The little nub by my thumb. Don't high pressure wash your engine and you are fine, I ran no rubber boots on my GLI and I was just careful when washing.

I didnt have to cut anything off my coils.. the adapters fit perfectly. It was a 2.7T adapter.. but should be the same. Didnt even take that much force to get them in...maybe dampen the rubber for lube and push.

I didn't cut anything of mine also but they were not easy to get in. Took a fair bit of pressure.

thanks for the tip Colin, that works.
Although I'm back to ground zero, I Started the car, it felt a little more viberation than usual, The CEL was still on , I tried to drive it to Autovalue to get it scanned, though it started flashing again, this time it would flash then for a brief moment just a steady cel and start flashing again,
2nd gear felt like it had no power at all, the throttle responce was terrible, kind of felt like being in 5th gear under 20 km an hr about to stall, so I turned around, and went back home.

Any tips from here on ?

As for the continuing misfire, when was the last time you did spark plugs? Check that everything is clicked on fully and that the ground points are grounding well enough.

I, originally left the Square things on the side, misunderstood what you meant, I just trimmed the lower rubber to get it to fit tight. ill try that now
How deep do these things have to go for it to be properly installed?

My spark plugs were done like 15 thousand KMs ago.

Replace your plugs with NGK BKR6E and go from there. For copper plugs they're remarkably resilient.

Have a peek at their condition every oil change for wear/abuse and change as necessary. They're ridiculously cheaper than OEM, and available everywhere.

I've used them for >20k km with no ill effects.

You can do those, if you were going to do those though i'd probably do the BKR6EIX, just because they do last longer and you don't have to check them if you don't mind checking though go with the coppers.

The coils should kinda pop down, you can get an idea how far with the picture on 034's site.

IMHO people go overboard on replacing copper core spark plugs, like I said... I've gone over 20k km on coppers where most people change them every oil change.

I think that's unnecessary, just check your gaps and go. Where gaps are concerned, any adjustment is a replacement.
