    Re: Quattro in the Snow

My guess is no winters to be sliding like that... But ice is ice and unless you are rocking studded tires you might be fuxored anwyays

This goes without saying. I have Haldex though :(

Do you have the Haldex Controller upgraded on your R? It is on my list of purchases to be made at some point.

                    Re: Quattro in the Snow

No, I never had a haldex controller on my old .:R and dont have one (YET) on Tracy's .:R. However I did drive a MK4.:R with a haldex controller and boy what a different. Definitely a worthy mod!

I was just mainly caught off guard when I could consistantly keep the audi going sideways (literally). With the haldex, the best I could do in the .:R was just kick the back end out back and forth. Either way, AWD is where its at in the snow. Makes winter a little bit more exciting

                      Re: Quattro in the Snow

Yeah I have heard the upgrade is definitely worth it.

Although my car i seem to be able to get it sideways quite well whenever I want and keep it sideways even had some good flat spins going, wonder if the extra bit of length and weight helps my cause.

Couldn't agree more though, now owning AWD vs my old Gti I don't think I will ever go back!

                        Re: Quattro in the Snow

Ya FWD with AWD on demand (>10% yaw or wheel spin) is still a tragic fail.

quattro was a lifesaver on HWY2 the last couple days.

I thought the newer versions of haldex were 70/30 split with more to the back when needed?

Ponto, coming down hard right now, you should have fun in the AM. My car sucks in this weather. Despite being raised the Edmonton side road ruts are making me have to use main roads only.

Haha I know!! Getting home was a pita. Henday was brutal. Can't beleive how much snow we are getting!

What are you driving? I'm lucky I live on a bus route. So all my roads to work are Plowed except about half a block of service road.
