BMW has officially unveiled the Concept M4 Coupe, ahead of its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Designed to preview the upcoming production model, the concept expresses the "BMW M philosophy in ideal form."
The company didn't have much to say about the model, but it features a stylish exterior with an aggressive front bumper and a power dome hood. The car also has ventilated front fenders, an integrated trunk lid spoiler and bespoke 20-inch wheels with a two-tone finish. There's also a number of carbon fiber reinforced plastic components including the front splitter, roof and rear diffuser.
BMW is keeping a tight lid on specifications but hinted the "high performance" engine offers "immense power." That's pretty vague but previous reports have indicated the model will use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces approximately 450 bhp (335 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque.
According to BMW M GmbH Chairman Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, “The BMW Concept M4 Coupe reflects the BMW M philosophy in ideal form: It combines motor racing genes and unrestricted everyday suitability in a highly emotional overall concept." He added, "For four generations, the BMW M3 has put motor racing on the road and the BMW Concept M4 Coupe consistently continues to pursue this fundamental idea."
