  • B6 Taillight "Redded Out" (all red)

Hey guys, I saw this thread on Audizine of a British guy who moved to the states with his Brilliant Red '05 USP Avant and he posted a DIY of all this stuff he had done to his car, which included painting his taillights all red. I think it looks pretty sweet on a brilliant red b6 but I own an amulet red b6 and I was just wondering if anyone has seen a picture of this anywhere/could post it up because I don't want to do it and be disappointed!

Here is a picture of the Avant:

Anyways, if anyone could help me out with finding a picture I would be very greatful!

Can't you get colour-matched paint in a rattle can?

I'm not sure, like I know dupli-colour does those touch up paint cans but I wouldn't put that on because its not the most accurate colour matching and I would need a translucent paint which means thinning out some amulet red to make it see through. I was just hoping someone might have a picture, that red VHT was my first choice, it holds up really well and comes out nice and dark if you do enough coats.

As always, Shadow Tint is likely your best resource:

Yeah, I was thinking about Shadow Tint but wasn't sure if they did red, now I know! they did my Dad's a4 in black and did a great job so maybe I will go with the professional install! I'll call for a quote!

Or buy the film from them and DIY with some iso alcohol, a hair dryer and small squeegee/flexible yet sturdy card.

Is iso alcohol the same as rubbing alcohol? Because I always just used soap and water for tinting. Does alcohol work better?

Isopropyl is 99% rubbing is 70%.

Use whatever you have on hand at home.

The alcohol acts as a solvent to remove grime/build up and then evaporates, leaving behind a clean surface.

Would paint thinner work in a similar manner? I know a lot of times I've cleaned surfaces with it to prep for paint, so far has worked really well.

I have a bunch of the red film for tail lights. I should have more then enough left for you to do yours, if you come pick it up you can have it for free. I did my tail lights and I think they came out great. Shoot me a PM if you want it.
