alright folks, after my current coil dilemma i have decided to just get some new coils for the car, i got in touch with natty and get it narrowed down between 2 coils... KW V1 (i wont be messing around with dampening and such so i think v2 and v3 are over kill for my needs) or H&R street performance any one have any experience or insight with these 2?

After having ridden on KWs in a B5S4 I would wholeheartedly endorse those to you.

Re: coils suggestions
I have H&R Street Performance in my GTI. They're pretty good... a little bit bouncy but I think that's just because of the height I have them set at. If I had extra money laying around though, I'd maybe consider switching to KW V2s or V3s.Scott

Re: coils suggestions
From what I have read ST and KW V1 are the same except for better materials in the KW-V1s. A really good bang for your buck and one of the best handling upgrades you could do for the B5 would be Vogtland or the Vogtland GT3s and the 034 Motorsports Solid Rear Sway Bar and Sub frame Reinforcement brackets. Total would be less than the K1s and would fix a lot of the under-steering tendencies of a nose heavy, heavy car.

Re: coils suggestions
not sure about the Vogtland, appriciate the price difference, however i cheeped out on coils on my old jetta and hated every minute of it i really dont want to go through that again.. most people tend to love the ride KW gives and the material is something i think is necessary with our winters.
Pry4Sno, my avatar will change once the car is sitting pretty right now im waiting for a bunch of parts to come in.. :(

Re: coils suggestions
I would call Vogtlands inexpensive not cheap. They are German made with a 10 year warranty. They were $1500.00 not to many years back. Aging platform has brought the price down.
I tested the warranty about a year and a half ago on 5 year old setup. They sent out a new set of cartridges no questions asked. Then when i asked for the full rear assembly less the springs instead of just the cartridges they sent them. I wanted to go to a softer spring than the GT3 rears ( for me to stiff for Calgary roads) and they charged me 100 bucks for the standard springs. It turned out that there was never anything wrong with the cartridges in the end. I had just cheeped out on not using new stretch bolts and not torquing with the suspension fully loaded. Never make that mistake again.
The ride is really good even on Calgary roads.
Note added:
I believe Vogtland makes springs for KW and I know for a fact that they both use the same shock manufacturer. In fact they have the same part number on for the KW-V1 and the Vogtland.

Ride is no problem but I am right in the middle of some upgrades. So it may be a few weeks.

Re: coils suggestions
my vote is KW.
you can blow your wad on V2 or V3, but IMO unless you're running a ridiculous wheel setup or tracking the car its unnecessary. most dont even know how to set them up properly and they likely ride worse than out of the box V1's.Team Highschool

Re: coils suggestions
never really wanted to get into rebound and dampning adjusting for the same reason stated above, but if Vogtland's and KW V1 are similar i dont understand the added cost to the KW..... i dont mind spending more money on a superior product but everything i have been reading about the vogtland coils has put them in the same boat as the V1 coils
