Batt is new, had it replaced in jan.

I've had a alt die in the past, it was a slow death as I watched the volts go down. Then all the lights dimmed and lost all power, Could it still be the alt if I have batt power to everything else except the engine?

Yea I suppose. I was just hoping this has happen to someone else and had an idea what it could be. I should find out something on Monday.

sounds like exactly what happened to me. I changed my fuel pump, fuses, fuel filter and in the end it was just the fuel pump relay. its a $20 part, swap it out and see if that works. takes 5 min

When it happen to you did you still have power to the car and did the car still crank but not turn over.?

Sorry for all the question, I just trying to ease my mind. If its a minor issues like fuses or fuel pump ill get it fixed, anything major and ill be selling as is.

from a stop light I hit the gas and than I lost all throttle response and than the engine turned off. still had power and it cranked but it wouldn't turn over. If I were you I would just swap it out the relay just to see if you had the same problem before spending $120+/hour for the tech to hunt it down

Well the wait is over....piston hit spark plug and looks to have put hole in piston and mesed the cyl wall as well. I sold it as is on the spot for 3k. Truly is a sad day. Not sure why it happen but i know it was fucked. Ill be moving on now looking for something new.

Yea, another s4 down. The new owner will be doing a vr6 swap so I guess she won't be all gone. But I do miss her. I did keep the mangled spark plug. I'll post a pic tonight.

Thanks for everything guys. I will have some items for sale as well, I have a 85mm maf and hose and some other little tid bits that were not installed.

Sorry to hear about the loss, I had a feeling it was not a simple electrical issue.
