    Re: Shipping damage dilemma....

    Quick update...

One of the claims was successful.... but for $100 since thats what the shipper said the value was.
The other two claims needed one more thing filled out, but should be successful as well, leaving me with $300 to fix $650 worth of repairs.
I have offered to split the difference of $350 with the seller, so we will see what happens. ($175 each) I belive that is more then fair.

On a side note, UPS refunded $120 in a re-rate for charging too much initially... so thats somewhat helps.

      Re: Shipping damage dilemma....

And the seller said no to sharing the cost.. so we are going through the motions.

I offered to let Quattroworld/Audizine/VWVortex decide the fate, but i dont think he will take me up on that option.

UPS has been nothing short of a **** show through this entire process. To date there have been 5 rate changes, with the most recent being a bill for nearly $300. A quick call cleared that up as the wheels were COD and I paid on the spot, but it would be nice to think a company that big knew wtf they were doing.

          Re: Shipping damage dilemma....

Looks like we settled on a solution.

Unknowingly I apparently sent Cdn funds for the wheels so the seller was $105 short on the agreed upon price due to conversion.. so I took that 105 off the 175 offer and he is sending me $70 back. Certainly not perfect, but it will be nice to move on.
I will have to pay a bit extra to have the wheels refinished, but they should be mint at the end. I am going to replace two lips instead of having the repaired, so they should look good.

On to my next wheel issue...

The centers are a terrible teal color. Terrible is a strong word, but there is another set of the same wheels the same color rolling around the calgary on a silver civic. Needless to say I want something different. You wouldnt believe how tough it is to find someone to remove powdercoat! I had to call ~10 places to finally find someone to do it. Most places either couldnt do it, charged a ton, or wouldnt do it separately of powdercoating them again.
So for future reference, Valley Metal is the place to go for a chemical dip. They said they would charge $75-100 for all 4. After that is done I have to decide on a new finish.....

Polished center? Brushed center? Matte center? Painted center?

          Decisions decisions....

              Re: Shipping damage dilemma....

Im just a little worried on the time or cost to have them polished after the chemical dip.. I'll be chatting with Valley Metal about it. There are quite a few Semi truck places around that do it, so we will see. Full polish may be a bit too blingy for me. My first choice is a tinted brushed.. but I dont think thats something I can do.

Might as well post of picture of the wheels as they currently sit.. well before UPS used them as basketballs. Its not that I have been trying to keep them a secret.. just havent openly talked about them! ha ha.

                  Re: Shipping damage dilemma....

They are 18's...and went against my belief that they must be the same size. Staggered?! wtf?

                  Fronts are 18x8 with 38et (1.5" lip)
                  Rears are 18x9 with 45et (2" lip)

Planning on 225 or 235 /40/18 tires.. I havent test fit the fronts yet, but the backs sit nicely. Stoptech 332 front brakes give more room then the stock HP2's so I should be ok. I think the polished lip will look good against my polished mirrors.. just have to do something about the RS4 grill surround now!

Honestly if that civic wasnt silver and running teal classics I would have most likely left them as is. Its just too close IMO.

Personally I love the teal centers, but I dont think they would suit your car so I agree with a new finish. As for choice, any of the ones you listed would look great I think!

Polished lip with a very bright color center, like metallic pink, ruby red with gold flakes, matte orange...

I think this looks quite sharp... but Im not really a colored wheel type of guy. Looking for more of a refined, timeless style. I'm 32 and the car is my daily driver.

All depends on $$... Id have to have them brushed then professionally painted. Not sure I want to drop that kind of coin.
