    Here we go...........

Like most have said, sell the A4, and spend all your money (maybe leave 2k for wheels/suspension) on the nicest car you can get. You will get way more enjoyment out of that. Thats certainly my plan for whatever my next car is... but then again Ive already had to learn from my mistakes.

I suppose if 10K is the total budget, plan on a good chuck less for upgrades, and leave a buffer for the things you didn't expect. Worst case, you have a car like my Passat where I was at my budget when I bought it. Great shape, great maintenance records. It promptly spent 3 months off and on in the shop accumulating 10-15k$ in warranty work, then a year later I stuck another 5K$ of my money in to it. The only fun money I got to put in to it was a Malone tune.

Love my car - only a 2005, but unexpected stuff happens for sure.

You could probably do a pretty solid BT build for 10k. I've spent more than that by now, but thats because gone through 2 different turbo setups.

Assuming you did everything yourself and the car was otherwise perfect maintenance wise then ya you could maybe pull it off.

I don't see the problem. If he wants to invest some money into making his car nicer, why not? He didn't say he was going to spend another $10k all at once, I'm guessing he's thinking of doing some mods over time but he's not wanting to go over $10k total by the end of it.

                        Anyway, You could do:
                        HID headlights
                        High flow Catback
                        Sway bars
                        Bigger Turbo

Check out this link, it's all about that car.

Here is a good place to start for a budget B5 1.8 build.

$1,299.00 Frankenturbo F21 Kit -Ceramic coated hybrid turbocharger
                            Ceramic coated high-volume manifold
                            Custom turbo inlet pipe
                            Inline HF fuel pump.

                            $550.00 Jfonz stage 2+ or 3 tune

$250.00 Bigger Injectors if you go with the stage 3

$200.00 Ebay FM Intercooler and tubing

$400.00 Ebay Exhaust or custom exhaust. Or free if you just gut your stock exhaust from front to back.

                            $800.00 St Coilovers or voglands

$800.00 Good tires on stock rims or or used other OEMs (you cant see the rims from the driver seat but you will feel the tires.)

there you go only $4300 spent and you have $5700.00 left for maintenance, repairs and your first clutch replacement.

as long as the car is not starting to show typical b5 cancer its a personal preference . But tuning a b5 if it is aeb is a pain in the a$$, and the end result will never make you satisfied , very simple bolt ons to a b6 is a better investment, and the car is a better car.
