Audi has announced plans of bringing a new version of the SQ5 powered by a TFSI engine to the Detroit Motor Show.
It turns out previous reports were true and the Audi SQ5 will be available in select markets with a V6 3.0-liter TFSI gasoline (petrol) engine. The supercharged power unit develops 354 HP (260 kW) between 6,000 rpm and 6,500 rpm and has a peak torque of 346 lb-ft (470 Nm) available between 4,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm. It needs 5.3 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Power is sent to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via an 8-speed tiptronic transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.5 liters / 100 km in the NEDC or 21 mpg US with CO2 emissions of 199 g/km. It rides on a 30mm (1.2 inches) lowered chassis with more tautly tuned springs and shock absorbers and as standard comes with 20-inch alloys (21-inch available) wrapped around in 255/45 tires.
Both the interior and exterior mirror the SQ5 TDI, with a platinum gray radiator grille, roof spoiler, bespoke bumpers, along with aluminum pedals and shift paddles, with the interior also receiving power-adjustable sport seats covered by Pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara.
The 2013 Audi SQ5 TFSI is scheduled to hit U.S. dealerships in the first quarter of this year and will be sold in other markets such as Canada, South Africa, China, Russia, South Korea, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Ukraine and Chile.
