  • b5.5 passat headlight question

why in the world did VW make it that you need to remove the whole front bumper to remove the headlights?

or is there an easier way to change bulbs? really I'm saying now with the size of my hands

then again I take it removing the vw bumper is about 8 screws vs the agony of audis ahah

    Re: b5.5 passat headlight question

to take out the headlight assembly I am pretty sure the cover needs to come off

but to replace the bulbs you won't need to. I have done it before and I would say my hands are much bigger than normal lol it is just sometimes frustrating and tight :P

here is a diy i found:

      Re: b5.5 passat headlight question

I have no idea how different the passat is from my golf. But I did this yesterday on my golf. Fully expecting it to be an absolute nightmare.

Was pleasantly surprised, seemed fiddly in the DIY, but in practice took like 5 minutes.

I can swap mine. Usually pull the air box on the right side to make it easier. I retrofit them with HID bulbs without taking the lights out.
