  • BMW from states

I've started looking for my next car, I'm thinking of something that can haul a baby and go to track. Buying the car won't be this year maybe spring time but I'm trying to get some info figured out.

I'm leaning towards a 2008 m3 from the us or a 335. What are the importing fees like now Adays on BMW from the us. And 335 or m3, I found this for example I thought they would cost a bit more still.

By the time you pay the taxes and get the car here it will be pretty damn close to what you would pay here....

^^^This. I dont know what its like now but I know a few years ago, BMW were the most hassle to bring over. There were certain modifications that needed to be done, but were only allowed to be done at a BMW dealer so you can imagine the charges. Research it well so that you dont get screwed over in the long run!

Some info, I'll keep posting what I find. I like to know what people on here actually had to deal with though.

I've done it a few years back but you can find better deals in Canada now. Only thing US has over Canada is selection.

If I look at a 335 I'd buy here but a m3 is 15k cheaper. So in the long run 10k cheaper. I'm aiming at 40k for the price of the car.

How is an M3 $10K cheaper in the US? They can be had here in Canada for under $40K. You think you can get one from the US landed for $30K?

Dont forget you have to pay 6.1% duty and then 5% GST on top of all of that. Plus import fees and shipping.
Unless you find a screaming deal in the US on a car that is optioned exactly how you want, then it makes sense but also keep in mind your resale is lower on a US car VS CDN.

                  Re: BMW from states

I stand corrected I see a m3 for 40k right now. When i looked before they were 54k and the states was 35k so 40k or so.
So what would you guys pick m3 or 335

                    335 anyday!

i can take you for a rip in my modded 135, and it may change your mind.

                    with downpipes and a good tune, a 335 would DESTROY a m3.........
                    mine rapes them
but it all depends on what you want in a car
