03 A4 - needs new catalytic converter

Hey everyone,

Just joined the site, which was recommended by a friend. I need a new catalytic converter, but i dont want to spend 1600 on the stock one from an audi dealer (with labour), especially if I could purchase an aftermarket one which would be considerably less (with labour).

Any insight would be extremely helpful.

What make and model do you have?

If at any time in the future you want to change your exhaust I would wait until then to put them on. Lots of us actually run the cars without cats. (Myself included)

Its a 1.8t quattro 2003, and iv found a magnaflow converter for 425, i just dont know where to get the labour done

Talk to George at Tunedub or Calgary Autoworks (BaggedGLI on the forums works there). Are you thinking of any mods for your car??

yea for that much you can buy a full turbo back aftermarket and get cats or simply run without. .no carb testing in alberta.. meh.. but perhaps our kids will all have lung cancer.. i'm ok with that for now

from where.. lots of local vendors.. ask Jay at tunerworks for AWE or ask concept1 about their APR systems..

I've got a perfectly good used one out of my car if you want it. Can let it go for cheap.

Install it yourself, takes hardly any time at all.

I had an 034Motorsport test pipe and noticed a difference in sound and response.

Cant tell if serious. Taking those rusted bolts out for the first time since the car has been built is a HUGE PITA
