Sounds like normal cold spool to me, like Ryan says the exhaust leak might be raising the volume level on them.

Boost leak is possible, but most often the needle buzzes due to the gauge that was chosen, my AWE gauge buzzes, my autometer Cobalt gauge does not

my podi gauge has buzzed in the past but if i hit it, it stops. i thinks its more of something loose in the dash that rattles due to my loud exhaust. i know my tbb does come a bit loose now after a few pulls to the point of the bypipe nicking the rad fan. im gonna tighten that up today as well.

Buy a good gauge, the ones in the kits are dirt cheap and buzz. I couldn't be happier with my Autometer mechanical

Back on topic, I would guess that you also have some point of your exhaust system making contact with the chasis

yea the exhaust does contact the chassis and rattle around

Fix that chassis contact point, I would guess it is one of the studs from the driveshaft heat shielding, I cut mine off

well i just spent 2 hours using jack stands and removing the entire exhaust minus the ssac downpipes. i took off the cat back and the mid pipes and tested the car to see if i can still hear that sound...i was not able to.hear it but the car was extrealmy loud and i was not able to hear much else.lol. when i took off the exhaust if came off in 3 peices...one mid pipe fell off and the cat back split it to peices which means i was right and hat lots of leaks. i replaced the olive clamps on the downpipes with new ones and tightened all the other clamps extreamly tight and reinstalled....well i still have the woooo sound so im starting to think the turbos are about to take a dump some time sooner then later. is there any way to rule out the turbos? i thought they would have lasted a liytle longer then that. only 70000 on k04 and stage 3 minus the entire time.

I seriously doubt the turbos are about to take a dump. Go for a ride in floaters car, you will hear his turbos spool with the same noise. I currently have 2 stage 3 vehicles, they both make the same sound

im praying your right, not much i can really do but wait and be prepared if they go sky high, it just seems weird to me that one day the sound was not there then the nex it was. ive always heard the turbos spool but never like this before.

Flex?

You had a borked hanger, which made the exhaust leak flex a certain way, say with the opening pointing in a direction so that you didn't hear the full noise. Now with the new hanger, you have caused the leak to be distorted, perhaps sealed it partially or just moved the leak to some other point in your exhaust. Causing the change in the noise.

thanks ryan. that would put me more at ease to hear a video of another s4 with the same sound.

as for the exhaust leak, its not that. i removed the entire exhaust and tightend all the clamps up. and i have the old sytle ssac exhaust with no flex joints...just oilve clamps which i replaced yesterday with new ones.
