Refinishing B7 S4 Rims - Color Choice?

So the rims on the S4 have some curb rash and pits from the previous owner - so I thought I would get them refinished at the same time as the new Adam's Rotors are installed.

I like the stock rims, but I wouldn't mind toying with the finish somewhat. Any suggestions? Currently I'm deciding between:
- Gloss Black (looks good, but definitely played).
- Gunmetal (as per the picture below)
- Just high-polished silver.

I love the TI (gunmetal) look on a red car. The tricky bit with the S4 is all the other brightwork. What ever you choose has to look good with the mirrors and window/grill trim. If you were looking for a change I'd vote for something between the silver and gunmetal, a gunmetally silver?

Brushed silver looks best since it matches other accents on the car.

Black looks worst

Polished silver and Red are the only combination.

Here is what gunmetal would look like - IMO this is weak. Wheels just look smaller and out of place.




you can do black successfully but if you look online the guys who've done it also have blacked out most of the silver trim, black out grill, etc. Ask Alex/Popp about his red MB, IIRC he blacked out the rest of the trim on his car, before that it wasn't nearly as nice (now it looks pretty sick). I wouldn't do this is you're going to half ass it.

I like the black (even more so with the lip polished) as in the picture below, but you're exactly right that this would look better with black trim as well.



The only other option would be to go with a very light gunmetal (think hypersilver rims on the E39 M5) as shown below. Thoughts?

If you go powder the silver is going to be a little darker anyways. Here are mine, as silver as they could go:
