  • BMW 1 Series M is no more.

    Autoblog:

BMW 1 Series M Coupe is now history. While BMW is still building out the model run, it has closed ordering and "all cars are spoken for," according to Car and Driver.

There will be no more so if you held out hope of buying one someday soon, too bad.

Re: BMW 1 Series M is no more.

The answer and reasoning is because the future 1-series will be referencing:

1-Series FWD Family group which will consist of - City Compact, F.A.S.T. Family Activity Sports Tourer, Gran Turismo, FWD, optional AWD for F.A.S.T., and lastly the Z2 will fall under this category.

There will also be 1-series sDrive RWD which is what we can see now in the form of - F20 Sporthatch 5dr and F21 Sporthatch 3dr

There will be a new group called the 2-Series which will have the Coupe (F22) and Cabrio (F23) variants. They will only be RWD and be similar to 2002 BMW models.

So basically the 1-Series M/1M we know now will be known as M2 in the future. Engine for this will be a 4 cylinder turbo and weight significantly less than the current 1M.
