    2.7T oil?

    what are most of you guys using?

    mine has been castrol syntec 5w40 forever..

    new castrol edge isn't available in 5w40 in NA which sucks

    this weekend to try an experiment i changed the allroad and s4.

    allroad is still on syntec 5w40 but i ran out of my supply so i bought mobil1 0w40 for the s4..

    drove the car yesterday and it seemed fine.. i'll see how it works after a few months or if my turbos decide to blow from it or not :/


    curious if anyone is using anything different

    I would actually like to know how much oils actually make a difference. Mobil is a massive oil manufacturer, and support many race teams. Is there any sort of legitimate knowledge other than speculation on manufacturer vs manufacturer?

      I am pretty sure I used castrol syntax last go around as well. I have used mobil1 in the past though.

        oddly one thing i notice with the allroad vs s4

        oil temps in the s4 sit around 80 highway driving and never go up to 100 unless i'm really bagging on it

        in the allroad oil temps sit 100 on highway and can go up to 120 easily too

        not sure why the AR runs so much warmer

          i do find i run slightly cooler with castrol than if i run mobil.
          that said i run both depending on which is more readily available. Mobil 5/15w50 or castrol equivalent. i prefer castrol in the winter because it has a 5w40 or whatever it is that work well with our engines

            Used to run Castrol Syntec 5W40, now running Motul 5W40

                  Mobil1 isn't a full synthetic, it's a group IV base stock compared to group V.

                  I prefer Total Energy9000 5w40.
