Now if the dealer plugs your car in, the scan tool goes online and sends data which is reviewed by Audi if a tune is detected you are automatically flagged in there system with a TD1 code and your powertrain warranty is void.
It takes the decision out of the hands of your SA. That's new isn't it?
The craziest thing I read in the TSB that was posted is that a short shifter is considered an example of powertrain tuning lol and that they are now supposed to be reported.-Mike

Hold on, I read all of that and never did I see that your whole powertrain warranty is instantly void. My interpretation is that it does flag your car as status TD1 which is modified ECU and then they can, and possibly will, use that reason to refuse warranty claims against the powertrain. Which does not mean it's void?KR

There is more than meets the eye with that guy... a few weeks back he was up in arms because APR fried his ECU and didnt reimburse for car rental expenses... turns out he fried the ECU by improper install (which APR replaced) and didnt even rent a car.
Always two (or three) sides to a story...Last edited by R-Audi; 03-14-2012, 08:32 AM.

Doesnt the magnusen act or whatever it is called apply. same as tuner on diesels and trucks. They have to prove that the tune caused whatever the issue is, if it is proven then yes the warranty is void. I wanted to put a tuner on my truck just to correct for bigger tires and that would of flagged me.

Those of us who have had VW's for a decade have seen this before - there have been similar bulletins on the vortex and in the hands of dealerships.
Only change is that they are trying to capture this information passively and automatically now.
If you think a chip wouldn't have had an impact on your powertrain warranty claims in the past, you've been fooling yourself. Of course they are always going to look for an excuse to not give you a new engine or transmission for free.KR

In regards to the Stasis modifications done at the dealership. nothing new will happen we flag them TD1 and even more to Audi when we do the modifications. We hide nothing and Stasis makes sure we can't as they register the VIN also. They will continue to offer the same warranty they always have. As always the customer will have no idea if the claim was denied by Audi and covered by Stasis as this all happens behind the scenes. It still really does pay to have a SA in your good books.
Hope this clears up a few things about Stasis and the warranty they offer and will continue to offer, just remember it has to be dealership bought to qualify for the warranty to be valid.
I have some speculation as to why this is coming up now but I cannot put it up on forums incase I am wrong.
Any questions shoot me an email or call me. PM's take a while for me to reply to.

Basically they can imply that a modification caused the failure but the onus is on them to provide the proof. A short-shift kit in no way could or should invalidate a powertrain warranty. Think about it. How? That's like blaming appropriately sized aftermarket rims & tyres for a failed CV joint or wheel bearing.
Most people don't have the heart or the mechanical aptitude to argue with a dealership's shop manager (IME usually a class 1 knob-gobbler w/ a little-Hitler personality) as to what specifically caused the part to fail.Find me on Instagram @pry4sno

Definitely doesn't pay to think that the onus is on them to prove anything; they will shut your warranty claim down and tell you to never come back to their place of business, and then it's on you.KR
