  • Audi At The Detroit Auto Show 2012

Audi has stormed the North American International Auto Show with three new models for the United States.

First up, the A4 Allroad replaces the slow-selling A4 Avant. It is virtually identical to the European variant, but comes nicely equipped with power seats, "aluminum trigon" trim, a panorama sunroof and 18-inch alloy wheels. Options include heated front seats, a Bang & Olufsen audio system and GPS navigation.

Motivation is provided by a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine with 211 PS (155 kW / 208 hp) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission which sends power to a quattro all-wheel drive system.

Next up, the A8 3.0T features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with 333 PS (245 kW / 328 hp) and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque. It will eventually be joined by an A8 3.0 TDI later this year.

Last but not least, Audi unveiled the RS5 facelift. Bold and aggressive, the model features a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 450 PS (331 kW / 444 hp) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed S tronic transmission which sends power to a quattro all-wheel drive system with a crown-gear center differential. This enables the coupe to hit an electronically-limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

        Audi Q3 Vail Concept

Audi has officially unveiled the Q3 Vail concept at the North American International Auto Show.

Named after the popular skiing destination in Colorado, the Vail features an Energy Red exterior with matte gray body cladding, gloss black accents and aluminum trim. Other highlights include a dual exhaust system, 20-inch alloy wheels and a custom roof rack with integrated LED lights.

To spruce up the cabin, designers added leather/fabric seats, an Alcantara headliner and stainless steel mesh trim. The cargo compartment hasn't been forgotten as it has a heated carpet to provide "a warm area to sit on when putting on or taking off your ski boots." There's also a custom-designed Thermos which uses a recharging system, built into the cup holder, to keep beverages heated or cooled.

Under the hood, power comes from a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 314 PS (231 kW / 310 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system. This enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 262 km/h (163 mph).

Definitely digging the 5-cylinder 310hp Ute. I could own one of those. Porsche better get their "Cajun" out soon.
