  • B6 clutch issues

Hey, need a little help from you guys.

Today I drove home to saskatchewan and about two hours into the drive I go to pass another car and the clutch slips like crazy. Now every time I get on the power it slips. It's ok if I'm very nice and take things easy. So it looks like I'm replacing the clutch...
Is it normal for the clutch to be normal one day and the next it's toast?

Ya, I know it needs replacement... I just thought it was strange that it went so fast.
Anyways, any tips for DIY? This will be my first Audi clutch job

Once it starts slipping, the progression is rather quick

I dont know of a DIY but you will be looking at least 10hrs for quattro (approx 6hrs for non) for someone experienced

If you have access to a lift, It will take about 5hrs, it isn't much different than a B5

Mine took a while the first time, but now knowing what to do I'd say it can be done in 6-8 on the ground

                    Re: B6 clutch issues

ok so due to my lack of time... i had the car booked in and parts ordered for a new clutch. I was still in sask at the time so babied the car all the way home and
made it just fine. But i figured i'd just see how bad it was getting... so i decided to try a quick little pull and to my surprise the clutch never slipped at all.
So now im a little confused... the other day i could hardly get up to hi-way speeds without slipping like crazy. now i let it sit for two days and everything seems normal again? whats with that?

                    thanks for the help!

Or coolant flange leaking onto the clutch?

things all fixed up. It was just a leaky rear main and an old tired clutch.
big thanks to the guys @ Calgary Autoworks... Awesome service!
