Anyone checked this car out or driven it? Apparently it's been for sale for a while, fishy maybe? What could be wrong?

Been watching that one for a while and someone I know made him an offer, he is fairly sticky on his price (maybe not now that winter is here) but in my mind is a little overpriced, although it is a hard to find car in that spec so he is probably holding out for the one guy that really wants it . Really cool though! You looking at it?

i was looking at this over the summer but never got over to check it out and drive it. pretty unique car though, if it was awd i would be all over it! i dunn if there is anything wrong with it but it has been for sale for almost a year now, if not more

I dont think there's anything wrong with it, but i believe the owner is too firm/too high on price. Granted its rare, but most people have a hard time spending that kind of money on a 21 year old car with 200k+ km's, and no real performance gain. Most will just settle to buy a beater E30 and restore it into whatever they want.

Yeah, Patryk is very right here. I'm going to go look at it and test drive on Saturday, maybe I'll chat with him about price point and such. Honestly though, there are pretty mint s50/52 swaps and already turbo'd coupes on the US forums for the same price point. Or very nice e30s for 3-4k. We'll see what he says.

Here's the email he sent back to me.

"Reason for selling - bought an suv and can't justify having two vehicles at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I love this car. It hasn't been to the shop in a while but the last time it was there it was suggested that the upper shock mounts were replaced, I think the universal joint after the transmission needs attention, other than that mechanically sound. Some rust starting but could be fixed to prevent further rusting. No known accidents but it may have been repainted in spots. The paint looks good though.

The engine still has plenty of power, accelerates well. "

Alright, Patryks opinion here lol. Car is pretty tight, did a quick once over, everything is in order and good. Asked about the regular e30 crap, power steering done a year ago, along with blower motor. Door locks don't work, only drivers side does, kinda scary( I've had mine actually freeze on the inside one time). Says the timing belt it good, three years ago, but who cares when I'll probably try and blow up the m20 on purpose lol. There's no real dings on the body, interior is minty. Minor rust coming through the rear of the front fenders under the kit. No holes yet though. Lots of rock chipping on the front valence and bumper. Says he flexible on price, granted it is very rare, what would one think it is worth in the open market?

When I was looking in Poland these would go for anywhere between $500-4000, I found a really minty one for $3000, and shipping to Canada can be done for $3000-4500 depending where to and from.

So, to bring one over in good shape you'd be looking at $5000-7000

I wouldn't pay more than 6k for it and that's only if you really want it

Yeah I saw that one too. A little cheaper, trim level comfort. And auto, granted ill be doing a swap I'm not sure I'd want to tackle my first auto to manual swap at the same time. It looks as though it's in good condition too though.
