2012 Audi A1 Sportback
Audi has unveiled the A1 Sportback - the five-door variant of the A1 compact hatch.
The A1 Sportback has slightly different dimensions than the 3-door A1, being 6 mm (0.24 inches) wider and taller. The variant will also feature an S line package which can be seen in the photos published here.
The five-door A1 will come with a choice of six engines - three petrols and three diesels. Things start off with the 1.2 TFSI unit that produces 86 PS (63 kW / 85 hp) and there are two 1.4 liter TFSI units - 122 PS (90 kW / 121 hp) and 185 PS (136 kW / 183 hp).
On the diesel side is the 1.6 liter TDI with either 90 PS (66 kW / 89 hp) or 105 PS (77 kW / 104 hp). The A1 Sportback will also later get Audi's 2.0 liter TDI with 143 PS (105 kW / 141 hp).
Audi will offer the seven-speed S tronic gearbox on some variants and it comes standard with the range-topping 1.4 TFSI with 185 PS.
The car will come with a choice of 12 colors, including the new Samoa Orange, seen in the photos here, which is exclusive to the A1 Sportback.
The Audi A1 Sportback goes on sale in early 2012.
In Germany, prices for the the 1.2 TFSI start at €16,950, while the 1.6 TDI with 90 PS is priced at €19,050.
