  • Removing splash guards?

Hi guys...hey have any of you ever removed those oem splash guard / mud flap things off of an audi before lol?

They were on the car already when I bought it and they don't seem to keep the car any cleaner? I didn't have a set on my previous S4 and I get the same splash marks on the car with them on.

They look like **** from behind the car...

Am I in for any surprises if I do remove them? What do you guys think?

    Thanks
    Mike

Should just be 3 or 4 torx screws for each of them.

^yeah the uninstall looks simple enough...I'm concerned with what will be underneath the parts that touch the car, and what kind of holes I'll be left with
      (rust ect...)

I was hoping that someone here had removed a set already and could give me a heads-up with what I'll find.

Should be nothing underneath, could be some built up dirt and stuff, should be no holes as they mount to factory locations.

Going off my experience with my old jetta.

Cool, thanks...Any idea how long the guards where on your Jetta before you removed them?

To my knowledge the life of the car, i just took them off to clean underneath, there was some minor scratches, nothing that couldnt be polished out with a good high quality polish.

there will be no holes underneath but a scratch or two when the dealer installed them, those things are a $600 extra when buying a new car its on the invoice by default you have to specifically ask to have them removed!

Wow, that's insane but I can believe it lol.

Looks like there's more to the removal then I first thought, I have to remove the tires to get at them

I took the splash guards off my '04 in '08, and besides a bunch of dirt they were fine. I was even able to sell them after for a few bucks... haha.
