I know it's been mentioned but can you just have the machine shop shorten the pins? Let Vast know that the wait has been to long, and you would like them to foot the bill for the machine work. See what they say.

So for shortening he pins we need to know the length they should be. I finally got a reply from vast after I pissed mike off. Finally he gave some insight about what direction to take. I wish I didn't use vast at all. But it's too late to send the pistons back now since the block has been bored

Yesterday I stopped by at EC machine and they finally made some progess with vast and made the piston wrist pins fit.
Fianlly some progress

Next week I should be picking it up. Mike at Ec said a guy bought in a block from an Audi, don't know exactly wha but a v6, said the guy tried to run his owe water meth system and used just windshield washer fluid and screwed up his piston rings scored up the cylinders

What kind of washer fluid?

Some are better than others, but most contain ~50% each methanol and distilled water. Just want to avoid detergents and other additives.

My brother found the cheapest kind of -40 Motomaster at Canadian Tire is equivalent to the more expensive products, just by looking up the MSDS.

From what I understand is that he was just using washer fluid not methanol mixed you can also buy methal hydrate and make your own mix

I'm planning on starting to match up the wiring diagrams between the b5 s4 and the 3.0 a4 since I plan on using the 3 liter heads and just the b5 block. Hopefully I'll have a schematic diagrams for it all soon

There are quite a few people that use the regular blue washer fluid instead of Methanol... its as close to a perfect mix as you can get straight out of a bottle!
