  • turbo inlet pipe removal?

so for my motor mounts you need these things out of the way

i took the tops part off.. easy peasy

i actually was able to get the top nut off the driver motor mount with the side inlet in place because my AC compressor is out..

but the passenger (people say easier side) the side inlet is in the way

how do you remove the side inlets? are they not bolted to the turbos or do hey just slide overtop of the turbo inlet?

not bolted to turbo. there is a bolt on the side of the valve cover (well just below it) that keps it in place

this is the drivers side but you get the picture

i bought ratcheting wrenches with a flex head, and used them specifically for the mounts. it allows you you basically slip the wrench over the top bolt, have the rest of the wrench hanging down perpendicular to the ground, and then use a socket to tighten the bottom bolt.
Make sure you seat the stern posts, if you spin them in the mount itself you will feel what i mean.

thanks andrew! yea do the sterns have the little feet/pegs like the OEMs? i haven't gotten them yet i just got bored earlier so i felt like wrenching

i saw that bolt now on another post about ebay inlets lol so i'll give that a whirl and should be easy peasy! hopefully my turbos look OK and aren't all bent to **** otherwise motor pull for real and frankenturbos on order

with the engine in it might be easier if you have to undo the inlet to undo the two on the lower edge of the valve cover/head, and slide it forward that way. i doubt you can actually access that lower bolt with the chassis being right there.

                Re: turbo inlet pipe removal?

thanks andrew got the passenger side off with ease.. driver side bolt is a bit harder but i don't think i'll remove the 2nd inlet as i can get the motor mount without issues

bottom nuts i can feel with my hand so shouldn't be an issue once i get on my creeper

oh the passenger side turbo looks great! blades have zero mess on them

i'll take and post a pic up tomorrow of it

i got the stern soft mounts too
                stern normal tranny mounts
                apikol rear diff mount
                apikol rear diff carrier bushings
