Re: Hurry up summer!!
I would consider the Wilwood's as sold by Avalon MS, they are second in clamping force only to the Alcon's, but they cost 1/4. This is the kit that I am buying, you lose some of the GIANT BRAKE KIT status, put it more than makes up for it in functionalityI may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

Re: Hurry up summer!!
Mark,
Either of the 2 options above would work (and are probably overkill) for your purposes. Unless of course you've taken up tracking the car within the last several monthsJordan

Re: Hurry up summer!!
while the alcon's are nice, unless you're tracking your car they are complete overkill. and unless you're upgrading the master cylinder and rear brakes from what i've read in numerous places they leave the car quite unbalanced. absolutely sick brakes, but $4k+ for them when all is said and done.....
Ryan I was looking at those wilwoods as an option, are you doing the 332mm?Last edited by RONDAL; 03-17-2011, 01:25 PM.Team Highschool

Re: Hurry up summer!!
Andrew, I believe they are the 332, as for upgrading the master, never heard of anyone doing it, or of it being an issue. We have ABS systems, so braking will be handled in a safe balanced manner no matter whatI may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

Re: Hurry up summer!!
Grim, if you don't want to spend a huge chunk of change but want good brakes the Wilwoods are a proven option just not hyped like Alcons or Brembo. My two cents is maybe look into an Alcon Touring upgrade for the B7A4 (which uses B5S4 calipers and bigger rotors) and an Alcon B5S4 rear upgrade. Should cost around $2500 for both. Best of both worlds, bling without anyone knowing you paid less than a used Kia. You'll have to confirm fit for the fronts though.

Re: Hurry up summer!!
my comment was in reference to a few places i had read about guys with the 14.5" alcon and no rear upgrade having balance issues when tracking the car. I am sure upgrading the rears would sort this problem out.
i cant give first hand comment on it as i've never run them, like i said "i have read".
i think the place i saw thw MC upgrade thing was if the pads get too low due to the caliper and piston size they needed more fluid or something than the reservoir was holding? im not entirely sure the reason for it.Team Highschool
