  • Allroad stereo time

so bought the wife the same pioneer unit i bought for my S4.

has anyone ever seen this type of thing from pioneer? i wonder if you could order one?
    http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/2...-01/specs.html

alex is sourcing me the install stuff but i may see if pioneer can order me this (without it costing an arm/leg)
otherwise i'm bondoing the normal dash kit/sanding/primer/soft touch painting it to match OEM.

Buy mine off me if you want it. Not putting my pioneer back in the ar.

i believe it was harness related but G can prolly make a more accurate comment.

                    Re: Allroad stereo time

i'm guessing harness related to the CAN bus.. connects2 makes a harness/product that will work with canbus to keep the steering controls, etc! its like 110 bucks from enfig or you can even send them your pioneer harness and they'll solder everything up for you for like 150 bucks which seems steep as i can solder myself

i emailed enfig about what i'd need since i know the allroads use a symphony II deck but i think canbus is used on the 04+s ..

i know mine right now has zero switch 12v but with the connects2 harness dealy it will take the canbus signal and convert to a wire with switched 12v which is neato

                        Re: Allroad stereo time

so why dont' you just buy the right harness then? what was wrong with it with the other harness just a pain to turn on/off?
i think the AR should be the exact same as a B6 is for a stereo since they both have canbus and the symphony II stereo.. unless my 05 has the symphony II+ i'm not too sure.. i'll have to check on aw/az

                          Re: Allroad stereo time

okay so i ordered all my parts needed from Enfig

SUPER fast shipping even with USPS.. took around 4 days and no duty!!!

so for a newer vw/audi you need to get a harness made by connect2.. enfig sells them.. they are out of the UK

it was 110 US just for the stupid harness.. but it is WORTH EVERY PENNY!! it has a small module that converts canbus to output wires

outputs FOR.. power, switched power, dimmer, speed sensor, reverse!! and a few others.

SUPER easy to install.. connect2 makes them mainly for blaupunkt decks i guess so you end up having to cut off the heads of the one part of the harness and just solder your headunit wires to it.. which is easy

now i'm just waiting on my bypass relays i bought off ebay to arrive so i can get this crap installed.

one note... i know graeme has a dash kit by schosche.. i bought the metra a6 kit and a pioneer double din cage which was recommended to me.. costs about the same as the scosche going this route.

so the pioneer cage has the double din cage ring and you put it on the metra piece and it actually sits at a slight angle. it must be made that way so the unit points up at the driver..
so now i have to bondo the two together and sand, paint with plastidip to make it look OEM..

                          fun times!

for reference on the dash kit.. this guy has the same kit.. you can see how the bottom actually sticks out a bit on the deck trim ring.. i hate that 2 piece look so bondo time and fix that **** up
