clearcoat or not

i am in the process of turning the fishscale trim into brushed aluminium trim.
its turned out alright i think, is there a matt clearcoat i can use to protect the finish but still keep the finish with no shine.

How did you go about doing this? Is it paint? Is it vinyl or what?

the fishscale effect is etched in to the paint and then clearcoated.
i just used scotchbrite and acetone to take the clear and paint off and you are left with bare aluminium then just wet sanded it to get the brushed look.

I would say you could just clearcoat over it, but experience with clearcoat, generally it fills the scratches.
